our history

Established by Calvin Bell.

Welcome to Highland Memorial Cemetery. Highland Memorial Cemetery is a traditional cemetery established in 1965 by Miamisburg businessman Calvin Bell and family.

Highland is located on 44 acres high above the Miami Valley on the corner of State Route 725 and Union Road in Miamisburg, Ohio.  Beautifully landscaped with trees, shrubs, flowers, and a 1/4 acre lake, Highland offers upright monument lots, flush monument lots, as well as both in ground and above ground cremation interments.

Highland is a perpetual care cemetery chartered by the state of Ohio as a non-profit corporation. Perpetual care means that money from the purchase of each lot is set aside for future upkeep and care of the cemetery. As of 2018, over $700,000.00 has been set aside in a trust for this purpose. The board of trustees works on a mandate to preserve and protect the memories of families and loved ones. This trust will ensure that expansion will continue and the grounds maintained.

What Our Families Say

“My father is buried in this cemetery. Recently, I purchase a permanent vase and needed to have it installed. Doug, at Highland Memorial Cemetery is wonderful. He not only installed the vase for me, but he cleaned my father’s foot stone and raised the stone up as it had been sinking. What a wonderful and compassionate person. When he was finished, he took the time to call me to tell me he had installed the vase. Now all I have to do is buy the flowers. Thank you, Doug, – you are a saint.”

Jennifer Lee

Accountant

“My husbands grandfather was buried here 35 years ago. And had been in an unmarked grave ever since.

When I called to get information so we could get the headstone made the gentlemen I spoke to had impeccable records and knew exactly where he was buried. They were able to provide me all the details required to get the headstone in place.

Today… we made it happen. The man that meant the world to my husband will now forever be remembered and people will know he is there.

Thank you all so much for your help and care of the cemetery!”

Alicia Elam

Business Owner

“One of the most beautiful places and easiest people to have worked with. Their caring nature and understanding made the whole process so much better to go through in our time of need. I cannot say in words how much they went above and beyond what we had expected. If you need them you can trust that their word is their bond. Thank you so, so much for helping us when we needed you!”
